Seth Michael Bloom, a true mensch, passed away on April 14, 2022 after fighting brain cancer for 18 courageous years.
Seth LOVED stories and we hope to use this page as a memorial for all to share their favorite Seth stories and pictures.

Seth was very generous with his time and advice -- riding his bike to meetings with me at Brew Haha when he wasn't able to drive after his surgery. Several years later as a consultant, he helped us by doing our campaign feasibility study which resulted in him encouraging us to move forward with a capital campaign. When the DCM opened (many years later), Seth was always extremely complimentary of my efforts and gave me complete credit for the opening of the museum even though I repeatedly reminded of the many many other people involved (including him)!!!
Last year when Rabbi Beals approached Marty to help with a campaign to pay off the CBS mortgage, Marty recommended to him that I should be asked instead. I said no -- I was too busy with work and other commitments. But then Seth (and Marla) contacted me and Seth sold me on the reason for the campaign and the almost guaranteed success if we tie it to the 100th anniversary of the synagogue. How could I possibly say no to Seth?? It was my honor to work with him over the past year. His enthusiasm and creativity and energy and positive spirit were absolutely remarkable. When this campaign is completed, all credit goes to Seth for his vision and all of the early groundwork. And of course to Marla who has been such an amazing and hardworking partner. My favorite part of our many Zoom meetings was when Seth would come on with the phone a bit cockeyed so he was at a weird angle and he'd be fixing his hair and remarking on how good it looked that day! less
Seth was a part of the family. We loved spending time with the Blooms. Although we moved and our families grew up, we always kept in touch. Seth was a friend, a mentor, a leader and a mensch. Although we moved and our families grew up, we always kept in touch. Seth was a friend, a mentor, a leader and a mensch. We will always love him, remember him, and try to lead a life like his. We already miss him.
Seth never missed a party! Even when he wasn't feeling his best, Seth was front and center at the JFS DE 120th Anniversary Celebration. When Seth got tired, the only way to keep him seated during our speeches was to sit on his lap!

A funny memory that you once shared was meeting Rae's parents. You were both up to your typical shenanigans, laughing, gregarious, etc. and then it dawned on you both, that you were the adults. You weren't the kids and probably needed to be more "appropriate" with her parents.
